Become Part of the Tradition of Afternoon Tea Service at The Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill
Seatings Thursday through Sunday starting at 2:30pm. Tea reservations on Monday through Wednesday will be honored for parties of 8 or more. Reservations and cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
The Carolina Inn's long standing afternoon tea service embodies the traditional practice of afternoon tea as done by generations past. This elegant event is showcased at Carolina Crossroads , one of Chapel Hill's most renowned fine dining restaurants. Surrounded by heirloom china, crystal and silver servings by Coastline Imports and Burton & Burton, this is a truly unique event.
Our dedicated Tea Hostess selects only the finest teas from Adagio and The Elmwood Inn, offering different assortments every season - from Pumpkin Spice in the Fall and Coconut Pouchong in the Winter to Jasmine Oolong in the Spring and Persian-Melon White Tea in the Summer. Delectable house made accompaniments made by The Carolina Inn Pastry Chef, Suzanne Menius, include savory tea sandwiches, assorted sweets, and fresh baked scones served with our fresh, house made lemon curd, English Devonshire cream, jams and preserves.
Served in our cozy hotel lobby adorned with antique furniture or the elegant Piedmont Dining Room overlooking our garden terrace, guests can enjoy an ambiance of gracious gentility. Afternoon Tea at The Carolina Inn is a delightful experience and should be on the "must do" list for guests of our Chapel Hill hotel.
Afternoon Royal Tea:
Add a special touch to your afternoon respite by treating yourself to a glass of sparkling wine with a tantalizing selection of sweets, tea sandwiches, scones and tea.
Little Prince and Princess Tea:
Our Tea Hostess and Pastry Chef will gladly adjust their menu to flatter the tastes of our young patrons. We welcome children to experience the grace and charm of our Afternoon Tea and partake in this cherished tradition.

Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance directly with our Restaurant Coordinator, Laura Gearhart, at 919-918-2735 or by email at lgearhart@carolinainn.com. Please call at least 24 hours to cancel an existing reservation to avoid charges on your credit card.
