The Carolina Inn Kicks Off Fourth Season of Tailgate’Inn on the Front Porch

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (September 1, 2011) – The Carolina Inn kicks off the fourth season of its Tailgate’Inn on the Front Porch on Saturday, September 3.

For each UNC home game, there will be a build your own Bloody Mary Bar with a variety of mixes available including the Inn’s signature extra spicy “InnCinerator” served on the front porch from 9 a.m. to Noon.  The Inn offers its tailgate menu with full bar service, and plenty of comfortable seating under the shady oaks and magnolias on the Inn’s front lawn. There is no cover charge.

“While fans enjoy college football on our large projection screens, they can also indulge in our special tailgate grill menu,” said Executive Chef Jimmy Reale of the Carolina Crossroads Restaurant. “Some of my personal favorites are grilled local Farm Hand Foods sausages and bratwurst subs with onions and peppers and of course our made-to-order burgers with house ground beef. As the weather cools off, you can also look forward to warming up with a bowl of our House-Made Chili.”

For 3:30 p.m. kickoffs (like this Saturday’s home opener against James Madison), the pre-game tailgate is served from Noon to 2:30 p.m. with post-game tailgate from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. For 12:30 p.m. kickoffs, the post-game tailgate festivities take place from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

In addition to this Saturday’s season opener at Kenan Stadium, there are UNC home games on September 10 (Rutgers), September 17 (Virginia), October 8 (Louisville), October 15 (Miami), October 29 (Wake Forest) and November 26 (Duke).

Built on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill in 1924 by John Sprunt Hill – distinguished alumnus, successful businessman and University trustee – The Carolina Inn’s original concept was “to provide for the special wants and comforts of the University alumni...and University visitors.” The historical Carolina Inn features 185 charming and well-appointed guestrooms including 7 luxury suites.
