The Carolina Inn’s Crossroads Restaurant Embraces Local in its Summer Menus

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (July 1, 2011) – The award-winning Carolina Crossroads Restaurant at The Carolina Inn – one of only four Forbes Four-Star restaurants in North Carolina and a AAA Four Diamond rated restaurant – highlights an array of fresh local products in its new summer menus for dinner, lunch, lounge, burgers and desserts.

A popular entrée is the Grilled Sweet Tea Brined Chatham County Chicken served with Boursin Creamed Spinach, Summer Squash, Cremini Mushrooms, Roasted Red Potatoes and Lavender Butter.

The Shrimp, Scallop and Mussel Chermoula is served with Grilled Eggplant, Moroccan Cous Cous, and Crispy Goat Cheese Stuffed Squash Blossom.

The Grilled All Natural Pork Porterhouse is served with Pimento Mac and Cheese, Green Beans,
Pickled Green Tomatoes and Peach Brandy Jus.

Reale has many appetizer favorites as well which represent what summer is all about: fresh, home grown flavors coming right from his back yard.

The Farmers Market Tomato Soup features Fregola Sarda, Arugula Pesto, Kalamata Olive and Goat Cheese.

The Whitted Bowers Farm Watermelon Salad includes Gelée, Ashe County Grilled Juusto Cheese, Frisée, Pickled Cucumbers, Jalapeño Peppers, Radish with Citrus Vanilla Vinaigrette.

The North Carolina Heirloom Tomatoes are accompanied by Grilled Local Eggplant, Spinach, Cucumbers, Benton’s Country Ham, House-Made Lemon Scented Buratta Cheese with Grilled Young Onion Vinaigrette.

A dessert favorite is the Citrus Coeur a la Crème served with Summer Berry Compote and Strawberry Sauce.

And one of the best ice creams is the Chocolate Dulce de Leche served with Cinnamon Sopapillas and Fudge Sauce.
