“Fridays on the Front Porch” Returns for Ninth Season to The Carolina Inn on April 29

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (April 20, 2011) – The Carolina Inn begins the ninth season of its popular end-of-the-workweek celebration called “Fridays on the Front Porch” on Friday, April 29 from 5-9 p.m.

Live bluegrass music creates the perfect atmosphere for kicking back, relaxing and getting a jump on the weekend. The Inn offers a picnic menu with beer, wine and drink specials, and plenty of comfortable seating under the shady oaks and magnolias on the Inn’s front lawn. There is no cover charge or reservations for the event.

As part of its ongoing efforts to feature local products, The Carolina Inn has partnered with Carolina Brewery to serve the Sky Blue Golden Ale (silver medal at World Beer Championships) to kick off this year’s schedule.  Other Carolina Brewery beers currently on the regular menu include the Flagship IPA (Gold Medal Great American Beer Festival) on tap inside at the Crossroads Bar. Carolina Brewery’s Firecracker Pale Ale will be served as a summer seasonal offering.

“The Fridays on the Front Porch (FOFP) series has become an increasingly popular community event and gathering of friends and neighbors,” said Jonathan Campbell, director of food and beverage at The Carolina Inn. “When we were looking at draft beverage offerings for the FOFP season, it only made sense to partner with a business that is part of the local community, a neighbor and a friend in business as well.”

“We are very excited about the upcoming Fridays on the Front Porch season and the Carolina Inn’s decision to focus on our local brewery offerings,” said Robert Poitras, owner of Carolina Brewery.

Fridays on the Front Porch features the music of some of North Carolina’s best bluegrass bands for 23 consecutive Fridays through early October. One of the area’s most popular bands, Big Fat Gap, starts things off on Friday, April 29. The lineup for the rest of the series includes The Gravy Boys, Lizh and The Big Band, Mel Melton & The Wicked Mojo, Mick Mixon and The Franklin Street Band, Ted Walters Band and The Morning After.
