The Carolina Inn’s Crossroads Restaurant Highlights Fall Color in New Seasonal Menu

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (September 26, 2011) – The award-winning Carolina Crossroads Restaurant at The Carolina Inn – one of only four Forbes Four-Star restaurants in North Carolina and a AAA Four Diamond rated restaurant – highlights fall color on the plate with its new fall menus for dinner, lunch, lounge, burgers and desserts.

Executive Chef Jimmy Reale provides insight on his various culinary choices chock full of fall.

His quintessential autumn entrée offering is the Maple Leaf Farms’ Duck Breast served with Butternut Squash Purée, Italian Sausage & Mushroom Bread Pudding, Braised Escarole, Carrots and Fig Balsamic Jus.

Bursting with flavor, the Grilled Sumac Dusted Wild Salmon is served with Crab & Couscous Salad, Chermoula Sauce, Raita and Mini Falafel.

The Braised Pork Osso Bucco is served with Allspice Sweet Potatoes, Brussels Sprouts & House Bacon and Spiced Pecan Jus.

Reale has many appetizer favorites as well which all received rave reviews at a recent preview tasting dinner.

The Low Country She-Crab Soup contains Crawfish and Fennel Salad.

Improving an already award-winning recipe, the Prosciutto Wrapped Medjool Dates are stuffed with Blue Cheese and served over Crimson Lentil & Arugula Salad with Pomegranate-Balsamic Syrup.

The Pan Seared Shrimp is served with North Carolina White Cheddar Grits, Benton’s Smoked Bacon, Cremini Mushrooms, Tomatoes with Creamy Lobster Velouté.

A most tasty appetizer that might soon make its way onto the breakfast menu is the House-Made Lamb Sausage & Sweet Potato Hash accompanied by a Mini Pita, Bacon Jam, Sunny Side Latta Farm Egg and Pink Peppercorn Maple Syrup.

A dessert favorite is the Chocolate Cherry Bread Pudding served with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, not to mention the Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse accompanied by Salted North Carolina Peanuts and Fudge Sauce and the Nutella Swirl Pound Cake served with Coffee Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce.
